Nemo's Dream-Well

I had been working on a limited series of collages in a surreal manner that was a play on "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea." After I completed "Nemo's Dream-Well," I had the feeling that the collages I had created influenced the outcome of this painting, albeit in a very different way. Nemo has a lush under-the-sea quality. It is immersive; one "swims" around in it. Viewers should be drawn into the composition as if they are deep-sea divers. Moving across and up and down in the composition they should notice the large and small forms and shapes and how things change, the brushwork, and the manner in which space is handled and achieved.
